The three year National Diploma in Musical
Theatre is designed for those students with a specific vocational
focus. It will equip them with the technical and creative skills
necessary for a career in the performing arts.
This programme offers the students an intensive professional training.
It aims to develop technical, artistic and creative skills to a
professional level to prepare students for a successful and diverse
career in Theatre Performance.
The Diploma is principally a performance based programme with the
majority of time dedicated to dance, drama and singing. The remaining
time, approximately one quarter of the curriculum, is spent on
developing awareness of the broader contexts essential within professional
practice, such as Fitness, Health & Safety, Music Theory and
Appreciation and History of Musical Theatre. These courses are
taught through short lectures and practical workshops.
National Diploma to BA (Hons) Conversion Course
An exciting new opportunity will soon exist for students with
a National Diploma qualification to upgrade this to a BA (Hons),
validated by the University of Greenwich. This will be a one
year distance learning programme, allowing a graduate to continue
their academic studies in their free time whilst in employment.
The programme will comprise some short, intensive teaching periods
at the College, and then the student will use email to communicate
with their tutor and submit work.
This programme is scheduled to be presented for validation from
September 2007.
